Hi,
In my apps I have added link to online radio streaming service in Audio Player (Apps like Full Works Vivekananda has it). But it takes more than 25 seconds to start streaming. While in google play store other apps take only 3 seconds to start streaming. Kinldy fix the delay issue.

Thanks

    Hi,

When using the standard Android MediaPlayer API (which Andromo uses), the size of the buffer is decided in the firmware and is not something we can control. Some devices and OS versions have a very large buffer set, and require it to be filled before audio will play. Lower bitrates take longer to fill this buffer than higher bitrates do, so the buffering time is longer.

Other factors that affect buffering time include:

the speed and reliability of the user's connection
the bandwidth available at the server where the stream is hosted
the number of users accessing the stream
the configuration settings at the hosting server
The only way to reduce the buffering time is by making changes to the stream itself or by changing the hosting server.

    Hi,
But how then others apps play faster when using same phone and firmware and streaming from the same source .. that too signifcantly faster ..almost 10times!

Can you please check out my app - Full Works Vivekananda and respond!
This is the stream source link : http://37.59.28.208:8203/stream

    Thanks

I’ve given you all the possible reasons and solutions above. Not all devices are affected by the same limitations, but some are.

    Sorry, but then:
The stream source,OS,Firware,Mobile Device all being same,
the speed and reliability of the user's connection
the bandwidth available at the server where the stream is hosted
the number of users which is very low
the configuration settings at the hosting server

All the above options remaining same the only difference is I accessed the stream from a 3rd party android app(not of Andromo) where it was way faster in playing the radio which points to nothing but the way andromo tries to access this stream.

May the answer lies in Android MediaPlayer API that Andromo uses.
    Thanks for the answer tough
